Kingsgate House is a c.1800 detached Grade II listed townhouse, situated in the heart of Durham City’s Conservation area. Adjacent to the Durham World Heritage Site, the property is surrounded by a variety of significant architecture, and is aesthetically framed by its own walled garden.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with the client and contractor to preserve the delicate features, fabric, and details that constitute the character and qualities of the heritage asset.

We repaired many of the sliding sash timber windows and doors in order to ensure a suitable level of use (while preserving the antique features), and in certain places we chose to replace the newer steel windows and secondary glazing with more traditional timber sashes.
